Blackberry Botanical Smash
In Seattle, blackberries aren’t just a fruit; they’re an invasion. But, we turn the tables every summer, picking our way through the rampant green spaces. Grab a handful of this invasive bounty and make a blackberry botanical smash. It's a non-alcoholic way to celebrate, but if you're feeling adventurous, add a shot of vodka.
Botanical Blackberry Smash
Blackberry syrup
Equal parts blackberries and sugar by weight. Heat in a sauce pot over medium until blackberries break down and sugar is dissolved. Strain through a fine meshed sieve.
Smash
Serves 2
8oz tonic
4oz orange juice
1oz Orasella botanical syrup (from a jar of cherries)
1/2oz blackberry syrup*
2 generous shakes Peychaud’s bitters
Stir over ice. Garnish with Orasella botanical cherries.
