Fever Chill

This warm cocktail is a spin on a classic toddy, but, has much more depth and interest than the original…primarily due to the addition of two types of scotch whisky (one mellow and, the other, heavily peated). If you’ve never tried a rinse or a spritz, you’ll have fun with this cocktail. It’s a way to add intense flavors (cue peated scotch) without overpowering the drink.

Fever Chill

Serves 1

2 oz Blended scotch whisky (like Lang’s smooth and mellow blended scotch whisky)
.5 oz Lemon juice
.25 oz Orasella cherry syrup
.25 oz Simple syrup (1 part water to 1 part sugar, dissolved)
.25 oz Honey
 5-6 Dashes cardamom bitters
2 spritzes Peated scotch whisky (like Ardbeg, placed in an atomizer or travel spray bottle)
Garnish with a lemon and an Orasella maraschino cherry

Preheat a mug with hot water. Discard water. Add blended scotch whisky, lemon juice, cherry syrup, simple syrup, bitters and honey. Slowly add hot water to the brim of the mug and gently stir until the honey is completely dissolved. Spray the top of your cocktail with a heavily peated scotch. Garnish with a lemon wheel and an Orasella cherry.
